I'm blessed with a partner who's interested in my hobby. So he said to me: "How about getting an airbrush for your birthday? So you can paint without seeing brushstrokes on your work?"<br />
<br />
To be honest I never researched the advantage of using an airbrush for this. After he said that I spent a week on the internet. Using google, reading articles, watching YouTube. I liked what I saw and read. Last Friday we 'crossed' our country and went for an 1,5 hour drive to a store which is specialized into airbrushes. I must say that I entered a new world and I fell in love immediately.<br />
<br />
Painting with an airbrush pistol is not so easy. You need to get the feeling of how much pressure/air you give it and next how much paint you want to spray. The pictures below show my first project. A cabinet which I will probably use in the bathroom of my new project. The cabinet was shiny mahogany red wood. First I sprayed it with primer as you can see at the second picture. After that I used a mat grey finish.<br />
<br />
Next project will be painting the windows of my miniature house.<br />

With that in mind I went to a local craftshop for painters. I needed a light material, thin, because I don't want a visible thick layer of 'something' on the outside.<br />
<br />
I found cork! And I love it. It's 1 mm thick and can be cut with a scissors or knife. With a couple sheets of cork and three different 'brick' colours of paint I left the shop.<br />
<br />
At home I could not wait to start with a test piece. First, I coloured the cork with paint. For my test piece I used only one colour. After it was dried I cut little pieces of 2 by 0.5 cm. For the grout I used grey pre-coloured filler which you use to fill up holes in e.g. walls. I applied a medium layer of filler onto the MDF and put the cork brick on top of it, piece by piece. I gave every brick a little push, so the filler comes up and the brick get surrounded by the 'grout'. After the filler dried it works as glue to the cork, I can't get it off. Perfect!<br />
<br />
Please see the pictures below for a little step-by-step version. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below and I'll reply to it.<br />

<br />
After being away for a long time I've decided to start again with creating miniatures. I've sold most of my miniatures during the past months with the idea to quit with this hobby. It was a nice try haha, because getting rid of my miniatures only made space for new creative ideas en inspiration.<br />
<br />
I've bought a new project. Nice pale wood waiting to be decorated. Keep you updated!<br />

The
kitchen you see is a piece I created a while ago. The kitchen

cardboard; I bought one with a high gloss, metal and matt finish. The
adjustable legs underneath the stove are made out of screws with a flat
top. I am very happy with the end result for now. I hope you like it too :)<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today I started with a wooden floor. I wanted to make an oak look versailles floor. To create this floor I didn't use oak, not even wood, but cardboard! I designed a pattern which was usable in the room I am decorating. Printed it on regular paper and glued this paper onto the thin cardboard.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gYqVM2W1M44/UpJCRnaQ4RI/AAAAAAAAAIs/mF30B9ER4iY/s1600/verf.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gYqVM2W1M44/UpJCRnaQ4RI/AAAAAAAAAIs/mF30B9ER4iY/s1600/verf.png" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
After the pieces were glued onto the cardboard the painting could start. I painted every detail step by step. First some at the right of the square, than at the lef, top and bottom. Just doing it random so that there won't rise a color pattern into the 'wooden' tiles. For painting I used a water color paint from Van Gogh.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i8W2FNcqASg/UpJCROZwmgI/AAAAAAAAAIo/onxFgfhjIh4/s1600/inkleuren.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i8W2FNcqASg/UpJCROZwmgI/AAAAAAAAAIo/onxFgfhjIh4/s1600/inkleuren.png" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pCenJVb_Wdo/UpJCRP2NBHI/AAAAAAAAAIk/bfknBU8udCI/s1600/geschilderd.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pCenJVb_Wdo/UpJCRP2NBHI/AAAAAAAAAIk/bfknBU8udCI/s1600/geschilderd.png" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
After painting the squares I varnished them with a matt mat finish. Once the varnish is dry the squares can be cut out with a cutter.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BacOpT3DRE4/UpJCR5ZvPII/AAAAAAAAAI0/EMcR0AYNqjE/s1600/vloer.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BacOpT3DRE4/UpJCR5ZvPII/AAAAAAAAAI0/EMcR0AYNqjE/s1600/vloer.png" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
And here you can see the first 8 tiles finished. I still need to make a lot more of them to create the whole floor, but as it takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes per tile to make them this will take a little while.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
